This natural healing art is based on the scientific fact that every part and system of the body is mirrored through reflex points, zones and areas on the feet, hands and ears. By stimulating these areas using specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, deep relaxation is experienced thus allowing for balance in the body and encouraging healing.
Reflexology works by promoting balance and normalization of the body naturally. It helps reduce stress and brings about relaxation. It also improves circulation and delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
On deeper levels, Reflexology cleanses the body of toxins and impurity, revitalizes energy, stimulates creativity and productivity, and helps to boost the immune system.
The oldest known documentation of Reflexology dates back to about 2300 BC as a pictograph found inside the tomb of an Egyptian physician. However it is speculated that Reflexology's birth began with the Incas, an ancient Peruvian civilization reaching back to 12000 BCE.
Please be aware that Reflexology is not intended to diagnose or treat for specific illness and it is not a substitute for medical care. However, Reflexology is usually a perfect complement to most therapies although exceptions do apply. Always let your reflexologist know if your health is compromised in any way, and inform your doctor before starting any new alternative therapy.
Important: New clients must have a brief health history consultation by phone before your first Reflexology appointment will be confirmed. Please expect to set aside at least 30 minutes. There is no cost for this initial phone consultation.
